DON'T STOP BELIEVING! Weekly intention
Manifestation: To get that going for ya’ you need to believe. And believing something in your mind is different from feeling it so strongly in your body that it feels real. It feels so damn good that the joy of it numbs all the negative feelings.
I’m sure if you’ve done yoga for a while, you’ve experienced it: You don’t know if you want to go to yoga, because it’s been a shitty day. You’re in doubt, because you just don’t feel good. But you decide to go because it can’t hurt, right? You get to class, still not feeling very good, roll out your mat, and you set an intention in the beginning of class because the teacher asks you to.
That day though, you’re so trapped in the problems and challenges and worries of life that it almost feels forced. But you find it, your intention, and you decide to focus on it during class because the teacher tells you to and hey, it can’t hurt, right? And you go into your practice. Heart starts pumping as you start moving, energy starts moving and swirling in your blood and through your body. Prana and breath starts opening up new space throughout your body, thoughts and emotions. You’re exhaling out, and it feels like a release. You exhale again, and you’re letting go of something that’s been weighing you down all day. You get into another vinyasa, and as you inhale into up-dog your chest opens up and you linger for a moment because you feel a flutter. Was that joy? Excitement? Hope?
Child’s pose. Breathe. Thoughts and problems rush back into your awareness, and your mind goes on a monkey ride. How? Why? When? What’s for dinner? Shit!! And then you remember; this wasn’t what I was supposed to focus on. What was my intention? You find it, remind yourself of it. Inhale, exhale, release. Again and again you let go a little of all the problems, all the thoughts, all the worrying.
Ok, back to the intention, back to the practice. You start moving again. And you go through the same loop again. But the periods of worry and tension gets shorter, and the periods where you feel present, calm, clear and strong becomes longer. And as you keep moving and breathing you’re burning through the negativity, breath by breath, warrior by warrior, heartbeat by heartbeat.
Class suddenly starts to slow down, is it over already? Some stretching, restorative poses on the floor. And inside, there’s not much going on at all anymore, except an overwhelming feeling of peace. Breath becomes more shallow, completely relaxed, mind is clear and calm, body is tired but pulsing steadily with clarity, truth, purpose, passion. And you’re free.
You sit on your mat in the end of class, final meditation, final moment of your practice. The teacher asks you to get back to your intention again. And it is there, so clear, that you can feel it in your body. The joy of it, the excitement of it, as if it’s already there, it is already happening. And you believe it, and you believe that it will all work out because it has to, and because you deserve it. And suddenly you’re back on your path, and all those worries and problems are still there, but they aren’t really that bad come to think of it. They are really just speed-bumps and you are totally capable of handling it. What’s important is that you keep moving towards what you believe in, what you dream of, and that you never stop because of a bump in the road. Because that bump is just there to show you how strong you really are, to teach you that you can handle ANYTHING with grace and success. It is there to remind you that there’s no obstacle too big, as long as you know where you’re going and why you’re here, and you keep believing in yourself.
You feel things so deeply because you care. You care about this life and the people in it. And that’s why you feel hopeless, lost and frustrated sometimes. It’s a good thing, that you care deeply and feel deeply about your life. So to help you over the speed-bumps, it’s important to have tools to remind yourself that you got this! You’re on your way, and you can have whatever your heart is longing for, as long as you believe in yourself and your purpose.
Hey, think about this for a moment: All challenges that you are presented with are speed-bumps. You are driving in a car. You have your destination, you know where you want to go. But every time there’s a speed-bump in the road, you stop. You’re scared of the speed-bumps, so you refuse to drive over them. So you take another direction, and another direction again. Suddenly you have lost track of where you were going in the first place, everything is suddenly just about avoiding the speed-bumps. Who knows when you will reach your destination, if ever.
Speed-bumps, or challenges, come to slow you down a bit to teach you something, to make you more prepared and ready for what lies ahead. They don’t mean that you’re on the wrong path, not at all. And the more you try to avoid them, the longer it will take you to reach your destination, your goal. Learning to look at challenges as gifts and to see beyond them and find the silver lining can certainly make life more interesting and fun, and every time you overcome one you learn that you are far more capable and strong than you thought.
Every single one of us knows that we are going to die at some point. And armed with that information we’re supposed to somehow go on living. That is tough, and it’s not for cowards. The physical yoga practice is a sacred geometry designed to release blocked energy, fear, grief, tension and stress. Pranayama (breath) is the life force that helps us to give release to the energy that’s been stuck and blocked, and open up space for our vitality, love and joy. Meditation is our tool to communication with our subconscious, to bring us clarity and truth of who we are, where we want to go, where we are stuck and what we need to let go of so that we can start to move towards our dreams. We can use this clarity to set intentions and manifestations to help us move forward in the face of challenge and keep us moving in the right direction. It’s all intertwined. Where to begin? It doesn’t matter. All paths lead to the same place, what we are all longing for; clarity, potential, fulfillment, joy, happiness, love and freedom. Intentions just helps us stay focused on the things that really matters to us. Helps us see the silver linings.
So, let’s do it! Lets set that intention!
Close your eyes. And visualize what you want for yourself. Allow yourself to drop into what that would feel like, without any “what if’s” “but’s” or “I suck’s”, or any of that stuff. “What if I would fail?” Well, what if you wouldn’t? “What would people think?” It doesn’t matter! What would it feel like for you? Close your eyes, and allow yourself to slip into the dream.
“Whatever I need in the form of assistance to guide me in the direction of my life is not only available, but on its way”. Believe that!
Sit there with your eyes closed for about 60 seconds, and really drop into it. What would it feel like? What would it feel like to be what you want, be connected to what you want, to have what you want? Be open to receive. Have the belief that you deserve it. It’s on its way.
It’s on its way.
Believe it. Feel it. Be excited about it, because: It’s on its way.
Sometimes in life people will try to take it away from you. They will tell you you’re not good enough, or strong enough. That what you want is stupid, or that it is the “wrong thing for you” as if they know better. Well, they don’t, and no matter what you do don’t stop believing! It’s yours. Your dream, your wish, your vision – and you will have it as long as you keep your path true and clear and you keep returning to your heart and your intention.
So whatever your dream or your vision is, you will find it! And through the next weeks, whenever you start to doubt it, repeat this mantra (or the piece that resonates with you the most):
Never stop believing!
It’s on its way!
This is my truth!
I am the creator of my life!
I am ready to receive!
I can overcome any challenge that will bring me closer to my dreams!
