NEW MOON IN PISCES!

GET READY TO RELEASE THE OLD AND SET THE TONE FOR WHAT’S TO COME

 

The new moon on the 17th of March is special; it is in Pisces, the last sign in the zodiac, so this new moon marks the completion of the astrological year and the beginning of the new. In other words: this is the astrological New Year, and just like we create new year resolutions, now is a wonderful time to let go of the old and let the universe know what your hopes and dreams are for the next 12 months to come.

 

Personally, I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions They often feel superficial and kind of doomed to fail. “I’m gonna stop smoking this year”, “I’m gonna get better at working out”, “I’m gonna have more healthy routines” and so on. They don’t go into depth, and they don’t necessarily give you a good feeling. The biggest difference between resolutions and intentions are that intentions get into the heart of things. It’s more about finding out how you want to feel than specifically what you need to do or not do. We can’t always plan for how things are going to happen, but we can be clear on what we want to happen and where we wish to go. These intentions become a guiding tool. It becomes easier to check in when we’re in doubt about which direction to take, and see which choice would best reflect our intention of where we want to get to. This is why it’s important to carve out some time to figure out what our deepest wishes for the future are, so that our intention(s) for the next period of our life is true to who we are and can reflect our dreams. This is so powerful, and it can change things pretty quickly; you start to notice little things falling into place all of a sudden, and that’s why it’s also so fun. Ultimately what we do when we set strong, positive intentions in our lives is to cultivate our ideas and clear the way for our visions to surface and become our new reality.

 

So here’s what I am going to do on this new moon. It feels good to wrap up the year that’s been, take some time to look back, reflect, release and create some space for what I wish to create in the new year. Join me in planting some intention seeds so we can attract our heartfelt longings in the year to come!

 

MOON RITUAL

 

You want to find a “sacred space” where you are comfortable and un-interrupted. What you need is a journal and pen, some small pieces of paper, a bowl or cup that is fire proof, and a mat/blanket/cushion or other props you need to be comfortably seated. You can have other items as well lined up that helps to calm and ground you, like crystals, incense (sage is wonderful to clear negative energy), calming music, some candles, a cup of tea or other things that help you feel centered and calm.

PART ONE: RELEASING NEGATIVITY FROM THE PAST

 

Write down these questions in your journal or on a piece of paper:

  • What’s been the theme of this year?

  • What have I accomplished?

  • What have I dreamed about?

  • What didn’t happen that I felt disappointed about?

 

Write down all the answers that come to mind, big or small. Be as specific as you can, and let everything surface. Try not to limit yourself, but rather let it be a stream of words onto the paper.

Divide your answers into two categories: LET GO and BE GRATEFUL. 

 

Focus on the list of things you are ready to let go of. Write them on small separate pieces of paper, each thing goes on its own piece. Write "I let go of ...." on each note. Feel them and reflect on what it would mean to really let them go, to really be done with this. If you’d like you can journal about it, to get your thoughts out on paper.

Sit with this in meditation for 5-10 minutes or as long as you need. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Every exhale repeat to yourself “release”. Every inhale visualize you’re cleaning the path, creating space and repeat “I am letting go”. Do this until you feel calm, and you feel a shift in energy. In other words; until you feel a release.

When you’re ready to open your eyes, take the small pieces of paper into your fire proof cup or bowl. The smaller the pieces of papers the easier and safer this is going to be. Put them all in, set them on fire, and watch as they burn to ash. Keep breathing through this part, releasing with your exhales. Here I like to use a more cleansing breath, exhaling more forcefully out through the mouth. You do what feels best to you. If you don't want to involve fire in this, you can of course skip it. I just like the visual of these things actually going up in flames. But the intention to really let them go is what matters.

When it’s done, close your eyes again, draw your palms together in front of your heart center in gratitude. Send out thanks for the things you are grateful for from this year, and to the people that's been important. 

 

PART TWO: WISHES AND DESIRES

 

Connect to earth to ground your thoughts. You can do this standing or seated. With your breath moving calmly and eyes closed, picture you have roots stretching from your body down into the core of the earth. Keep visualizing for a few minutes. Then picture the roots growing back up towards you, and all the way up through the spine touching each chakra on its way. Connect to earth-energy.

 

Another word for grounding is centering. Primary goal is to calm and center yourself in the present moment so that you can bring mindfulness to the ritual before you and allow it to be your priority. Whatever works for you to accomplish this is good, so if you need to add some things feel free.

 

Take out a fresh new page in your journal. On the top of the page write:

“I accept good to come into my life now, for my highest good and the highest good of all concerned.”

 

Go back to your journal, and start writing a list of things you would like to manifest in the year to come. Make sure these are positive intentions that will benefit you and that will not harm others. You know the phrase “be careful what you wish for”? Yea, this stuff works, so be mindful of the energy in your intentions. You want it to be positive. Add drawings or other visuals if that feels good to you. Whatever you can do to create a beautiful list of dreams and wants.

 

Work on this for as long as you want. Maybe it’s just a clean, simple list of a few things that are really important to you, or maybe you spend more time creating something that looks more like a vision board. Nothing is right or wrong here, go with your intuition.

 

When you are done journaling, and putting together your list or vision board of intentions, take a moment for meditation again. Find a comfortable seat. Take a moment to get out of the head and into the heart-space in your body. Maybe you want to put one hand on the heart, one hand on the belly, or palms in front of the chest. Breathe as if you’re breathing in and out of the heart a few times. Feel your list of intentions as if everything on the list has already happened. This is important; it sends a powerful message to the universe. Manifesting what we want is so much about how we feel. If you feel like this has already been accomplished, that is exactly what you’re going to attract! Let the feeling of joy and accomplishment fill you for as long as you want, at least a few minutes.

Last, take a few deep breaths, repeating “I accept these good things to come into my life now”.

 

 

AFTER THE RITUAL

 

Close the ritual with putting your journal in a special place together with a few of the items you used in the ritual. This way it’s easier to take them out again for the next one, and they have now been charged with your intention, so make sure you don’t just stuff them away in a closet.

 

This specific new moon is special, because it defines the ending of a year and the beginning of a new. That’s why this particular new moon ritual is also special and a bit more extensive. But the new moon occurs every month, and just as the moon, our dreams, wants and needs also change. Going through this ritual lays the grounds for you to come back to this once every month. Then the ritual doesn’t have to be as extensive. You can go to the list from the previous month, cross out things that are no longer relevant, and on a fresh piece of paper write a new, fresh, updated list that you can sit with in meditation for a few minutes. This is fun, because it allows you to physically see how things are starting to come true in your life through intention. You will soon be amazed how these things begin to find their way into your life after starting this process.
